Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults and Teens Across MA, CT, & RI

You work hard…really hard. Maybe you’ve built a successful career, raised a family, got straight A’s, or you’re just the one everyone relies on when things fall apart.

From the outside, you’re dependable and accomplished. But inside it feels very different. No matter how much you do, it never feels like enough. You might carry quiet guilt or shame, constantly comparing yourself to others or the impossible standards you’ve set for yourself.

Lately, you may also be realizing you’re neurodivergent, discovering ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD later in life. That insight can bring clarity, but also grief for the years spent masking, overcompensating, and working twice as hard to fit into a world that wasn’t built for you.

I provide therapy specifically tailored to your neurotype, helping you navigate life, career, relationships, and personal growth.

In therapy, we focus on:

  • Executive functioning: Planning, organization, prioritization, time management, and follow-through.

  • Emotional regulation: Managing stress, overwhelm, irritability, and intense emotions.

  • Career challenges: Navigating work environments, productivity strategies, and leadership demands for professionals, executives, directors, and C-suite leaders.

  • Relationship and social navigation: Understanding social dynamics, setting boundaries, and improving communication in family, friendships, and work relationships.

Therapy is not about changing who you are. It’s abouthelping you thrive in your unique brain. You will develop a sense of relief, validation, and clarity for the first time, finding someone who finally “gets” how their mind works.

Neurodivergence: Supporting ADHD, Autism, and Unique Brains

I support adults, teens, and parents with ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, and related differences in thinking and processing. I also work with different learning styles, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and Tourette’s Syndrome, as well as sensory processing issues such as misophonia. Many people don’t realize that mental health conditions like complex trauma/CPTSD, depression, OCD, and anxiety also influence how we think, feel, and process information, and these differences deserve the same understanding and support.

I provide therapy online across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, with an office in Newington, CT (though I do not see clients in person except for EMDR Intensives – you can read more about that service below). My clients include parents, co-parents, executives, directors, and c-suite professionals who want therapy that actually fits your brain.

ADHD Evaluations for Neurodivergent Adults and Teens in Newington & Across MA, CT, RI

If you suspect ADHD, a formal evaluation can provide clarity, validation, and a roadmap for support. My ADHD Evaluations include:

  • Comprehensive testing and diagnostic interviews

  • Personalized strategies for work, home, and relationships

  • Guidance tailored to moms, parents, teens 13+, executives, and professionals

Evaluations help you understand your brain and access tools that make daily life, work, and parenting more manageable.

Where Complex Trauma and Neurodivergence Intersect: How EMDR Can Help

Being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world often means facing what feels like “death by a thousand paper cuts.” The daily invalidations, misunderstandings, and pressure to conform can leave deep emotional imprints. You may also have experienced a dysfunctional family of origin where you weren’t fully seen or supported. Growing up in environments that criticized your differences instead of nurturing them. Emotionally abusive or controlling relationships. Or perhaps the ongoing trauma of trying to meet impossible standards. These experiences can make it hard to trust yourself or believe things could feel different.

Many neurodivergent adults carry the weight of trauma or complex trauma (CPTSD). EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy that helps your brain process these experiences safely. I provide neurodivergence-informed EMDR, respecting your sensory sensitivities, processing speed, and emotional regulation. EMDR can help you:

  • Heal from complex trauma, past abuse, or difficult experiences

  • Reduce anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms

  • Strengthen resilience in relationships, career, and daily life

Parenting Support for Neurodivergent Families

Parenting is challenging. Especially when neurodivergence is part of the family. I work with parents and co-parents to:

  • Understand your child’s neurodivergence and learning differences

  • Understand your own neurodivergence & learning differences, how these show up in your parenting, andhow to manage the overwhelm
  • Build practical strategies for home routines, school transitions, and sensory regulation

  • Navigate co-parenting conflicts and improve communication

  • Address feelings of shame, guilt, burnout, and self-doubt

For neurodivergent parents, therapy focuses on self-compassion, realistic expectations, and finding parenting strategies that actually work for your brain and your child’s. Many parents feel relief when they realize their struggles are not personal failings. They are brain differences requiring different approaches.

Support for Therapists and Counselors Throughout MA, CT, RI

Building a thriving career in mental health can be as challenging as it is rewarding. I provide tailored supervision, consultation, and professional support for therapists and clinicians looking to deepen their expertise, grow their private practice, or navigate the unique challenges of their work.

This includes guidance on EMDR for folx with ADHD & Autism or otehr neurotypes, designing and running intensives, and structuring a practice that fits your values, strengths, and brain wiring. For neurodivergent clinicians, I offer affirming support that honors your way of thinking and working. Helping you build a career that leverages, rather than fights, your unique strengths.

Together, we focus on creating clarity, momentum, and sustainable professional success, so you can feel confident in your work, your skills, and the path you’re building in the mental health field.

LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF

Hi! I’m Alyssa, licensed therapist, business owner, mom of littles, AuDHD human

I know what it’s like to juggle career, parenting, relationships, and your own emotions with a neurodivergent brain — because I’ve lived it. As both a therapist and a mom with AuDHD, I’ve learned how to move beyond survival mode, calm the overwhelm, and build self-trust. Now I help my clients do the same — with evidence-based tools, lived experience, and a healthy dose of humor.

"Alyssa brings deep insight and genuine warmth to her work with neurodiverse clients and parents experiencing burnout.

She creates a compassionate space where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered to find balance and connection.”

THERAPIST COLLEAGUE

“Alyssa helped me to finally get an ADHD diagnosis."

Now my job has granted me work accommodations that I’ve desperately needed. Having this diagnosis has meant a lot to me. It’s life-affirming.”

FORMER EVALUATION CLIENT, 38, GENDER FLUID

“I had a lot of therapists before Alyssa, but never I could never talk to them so openly and candidly about my ADHD.

Alyssa makes me feel deeply seen and heard. More and more, I’m learning to accept my brain, flaws and all, and work with it. I am learning to stop forcing habits that don’t work for me, and to give myself grace.”

CURRENT CLIENT, 41, FEMALE, MOM OF NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN

“I leave my sessions with Alyssa feeling excited and optimistic.

I have learned from our work that I really can find better ways to live my life that actually work for the way my brain works. It’s been life-changing!”

You hit send. And then, you see it right away.  The wrong person. The wrong tone. Or worse…reply all. Your stomach drops. Your brain replays it over and over.  Your body goes from fine to flooded in two seconds. It definitely doesn’t feel like a small mistake. It...
